Supporting Asylum Seekers and Immigrant Families Fund

Since the inception of the 'zero tolerance' policy earlier this year, many families have been separated at the US-Mexico border, with children being taken away from their parents and put into areas and situations they are unfamiliar with. This Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits providing support to those who are seeking asylum and safety. We have initially selected organizations that work to support and reunite the families who have been put in this incredibly difficult situation. The composition of nonprofits in this fund is subject to change as we learn more about the needs on the ground.

American Civil Liberties Union Foundation, Inc.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) works to defend the civil liberties and rights of American citizens across the board, including the rights of immigrants who seek asylum from other countries.

Texas Civil Rights Project

The Texas Civil Rights Project is a group of Texas-based lawyers working to advance the civil rights of the state's most vulnerable populations. In addition to aiding border-related cases, they also have projects focused on criminal justice reform, voting rights, and racial and economic justice

The Young Center For Immigrant Childrens Rights

The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights works to support and champion the rights of unaccompanied immigrant children. It works on a three step program that prioritizes serving the children as soon as they enter the country, advocating for their rights, and standing for the creation of a more comprehensive immigration system that protects children's rights.

The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) works to prevent unlawful deportations by connecting refugees or refugee families with legal aid. ASAP provides "rapid representation at a distance," and reports that it has represented refugees in 25 different states. Join us as we work to ensure that all persons fleeing persecution are given a chance to reach their full potential and contribute to their new community.

Amnesty International USA

Amnesty International is calling on the administration to immediately put an end to this unnecessary, devastating and unlawful policy of forced separation, and to reunite those families that have already been separated as quickly as possible.

Amnesty International has helped protect the human rights of refugees and asylum-seekers for decades – documenting the conditions they’re fleeing, ensuring that individual people are protected, and changing the policies so that more people can rebuild their lives in safety.

We conduct research that shines a light on why people are fleeing and what they experience trying to find safety. This research helps lawyers win individual cases and helps spark legislative reform.

We campaign on behalf of individuals and asylum-seekers worldwide to secure their safety and freedom.
We mobilize grassroots activists to change policies and laws in the United States.

Tahirih Justice Center

Tahirih Justice Center runs the Children’s Border Project, and they work with hundreds of kids that have been released from ORR [Office of Refugee Resettlement] care. To date, most of our work with that issue of family separation has been working with the parents in the days when they are being separated: when they’re in the federal courthouse being convicted; partnering with the federal public defenders; and then in the adult detention center, as they have no idea how to communicate or speak to their children or get them back before being deported.
